Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Grapeland Secondary Schools.  I am excited about the new year and the opportunities that await each of you.  I am honored to be part of the administrative staff of GISD.  I will work daily to help the students be the best they can be and reach the goals they set for themselves.  Parents, I will need your support and involvement during the year to assist in your child's success.  I will do all I can to provide a safe school for the students to attend.  I believe that every student at this school will have the opportunity to get an education that will help prepare them for the rest of their lives and that NO student will be allowed to keep others from having the opportunity to learn.

My name is Rick Frauenberger.  I graduated from Grapeland I.S.D. in 1983.  I attended McNeese State University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology.  I began my teaching/coaching career and have taught Math, Science, History,  P.E., Special Ed, Admin at the AB Unit along side coaching Baseball, Football, Basketball, Softball, and Golf for over 17 years.   I earned my Master’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.  Grapeland ISD has afforded me the opportunity to be a Principal for the past 7 years.

My wife, Teri, and I have been married for 32 years.  We have 3 children.   Lisa, 2011 Graduate of GISD, Bachelors of Science and Engineering Degree with concentration in Civil Engineering  from McNeese State University, Engineer at Vulcraft.  Shelby, 2013 Validictorian Graduate of GISD, medical student at UT Tyler in Longiew.  Rick (III), Senior at GISD.

Our students exemplify the best of our community as they enter our classrooms and arenas of competition each day. Teachers at GISD create lessons that engage and empower students in the learning process. We strive daily to meet the needs of our students.  Providing them with a positive, progressive, and safe culture.

Our extra-curricular activities, clubs, organizations, and service groups have continued the rich tradition of success established in prior years. It is through our fine arts, sports, spirit groups, FFA, and other student organizations that our students have an opportunity to represent our school and community and plant the seed for excellence. Through these experiences, our students develop and demonstrate skills that allow them to be leaders of the future.

At GISD we understand that excellence in schools require a partnership with our community. We encourage parent involvement and quality relationships with the businesses of the greater Houston County area. We encourage school-community relations including an emphasis on clear communications with parents and all stakeholders. We understand that parents’ most prize possession is their children and together we can prepare them to be successful, productive members of society.
