Mr. David Maass

I am currently in my first year as Superintendent at Grapeland I.S.D. Love the community and people of Grapeland. My family and I moved to Grapeland at the end of the 2022-2023 School year. 

My family includes my wife Melissa and six children, 3 boys (Conner, Caleb, and Micah) and 3 girls (Megan, Taylor, and Hannah). Micah and Hannah currently live with us here in Grapeland, and Conner and his wife moved to Grapeland shortly after we did with his wife, Stormy, and my two grandchildren, Lilly and Oliver, who both attend school here in Grapeland. 

I have been in education for over 20 years, as a Business Manager at Dawson I.S.D., a teacher and coach in Dallas, Ferris, Corsicana, and West. My first job as an administrator was at Oglesby I.S.D. where I was a Principal for 4 years and then Superintendent for 6 years before coming to Grapeland. My own education includes a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from LeTourneau University (Longview, TX.) and Masters and Doctorate degrees in Education from Texas A&M University at Commerce. 

I am honored to be Superintendent at Grapeland I.S.D. and proud to be part of the Sandie family. I know it is cliché to say that my door is always open, but mine actually is, and I welcome visitors and guests from the community (including students, staff, and parents) to drop by my office at any time to ask questions or discuss ideas about how we can make Grapeland I.S.D. better for our students and our community.
