Shelby Bruner played 1st base for the Grapeland Sandiettes and after high school she signed with the Angelina College Lady Roadrunners from Lufkin, Texas under the coaching of Mark Mattson.

Her freshman year she played DH for the Lady Roadrunners and in 2014 they became the NJCAA Division 1 National Champions.

In 2014-2015 she played her sophomore year at Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Mississippi under the coaching of Kevin Barefield.  She was 1st baseman and DH for the Lady Toppers and was awarded SSAC All-Conference with a 355 batting average.
