place and individually in the
varsity competition the
following students won:
1st Place (and a
scholarship) – Katelyn Brown
2nd
Place
- Jessica Wyers
3rd
Place
- Devan Mayfield
4th Place
- Ty Kellum
What a great job by all the land
judging team under Mr. Graham’s
guidance.
District One-Act Play
competition was held on March 28th
also and Grapeland High School’s
play was chosen as the alternate
play. I was very impressed with
all of our students and our
directors Vicki Burditt and
Brent Burrow. Reagan Hobson and
Rachel Dameron were chosen for
the all-star cast and Angeline
Kitchens was an honorable
mention all-star cast member.
Congratulations to cast, crew,
and sponsors.
The One-Act Play will be
presented for the public on
Sunday, April 1, at 2:00 p.m. as
part of a Fine Arts Show
presented by the district.
Following the play, the 5th
grade, 6th grade, and
the high school bands will all
perform. The art classes will
also have their work on display.
A cake auction will be held
during breaks of the
entertainment.
By now most have heard that
Coach Kris Iske is leaving for
Scurry-Rosser for a new
position. Coach Iske did a great
job with the Sandies and we
appreciate all that he has done.
At the same time, the Sandies
will continue to progress with a
new coaching in place soon.
Construction continues on
schedule and plans are also in
place for the renovations
planned for the summer in the
existing high school and at the
elementary campus.
April means more TAKS test and
of course these are very
important. I encourage all
students to attack these tests
much in the same way you do you
athletics, FFA, etc. Let’s be
Number 1 in TAKS just as we are
in so many other things
Spring is here with many
activities such as golf, track,
baseball,
Softball, and tennis in
progress. Good luck to all.
Glad to be a Sandie!
