Message From The Superintendent

February 26, 2007

Valentine’s Day has come and gone and by now the flowers are wilted and the candy has been eaten. Hope you each had a great Valentine’s Day.

The Sandie basketball team was defeated in the area play-off game by Broaddus. Congratulations to Coach Roberts, Coach Padgett, and all the Sandies on a great season. Once again, I am proud of the way our players conducted themselves in victory or defeat.

The baseball and softball teams are doing very well. Tennis, golf, and power lifting continue to make good showings.

The first round of TAKS testing is over and we hope everyone did a good job.

The Ag Mech team did very well in San Antonio and will be in Houston this week. I received a phone call this past week from another school commending Grapeland for the conduct and sportsmanship of our students. These are the things that make me so proud of the students we have in Grapeland.

Construction is going very well on the new school. Plans are to be in the main building by the time school starts August 27th. The new gym should be completed around the first of October. Our students should be very proud of this new school and it is well deserved.

Again thanks to the Grapeland school board and the citizens of Grapeland for providing this facility for our students.

We will have school on April 9th to make up the day we missed for bad weather. Spring break is fast approaching.

It’s a great day to be a Sandie!!  Buddy Sumrall
